*BEST of mamazine.com* Dream
by Diane Mierzwik

I sleep and dream of a field
of sunflowers and lemon trees
and of my mother—
apron, sticky and stained,
house slippers, brown and matted,
and breath, the breath of whiskey
drifting down from the top
of my warm head
while she feasts on my hair.
