POETRY

Fishbowl
by Stephanie Duve

sometimes i feel a flutter
in my abdomen
acroynm for y.o.u.
entered my life, changed my life
not a thing has been the same
the phantom fishbowl moving and grooving
butterflies flopping to the distant thrum
awakening, shaking the core of my body
heartbeats like drums
in a ritual time can never erase
sweet baby we are connected in a way unimagined
erected in the statue of Grecian myths
borne of the sorrow that stirs like pools of water
not tears undiscovered
but love complete

Stephanie Duve is a Midwestern Ohio Mama who really doesn't belong in the Midwest. She's an English major working toward her Masters in Library Science (yes, it is a science). Currently a stay-at-home mom obsessed with poetry and art, she loves all sorts of creative people and endeavors and all of those lost, beautiful souls out there who are navigating the waters of motherhood. Stephanie is most inspired by music, psychology, and her beautiful almost-two-year old boy, Jacob.
