POETRY

Snow keeps us in
by Maria Scala

Snow keeps us in
or maybe we keep snow out.
In the neighbour's backyard that tree
where your balloons got caught—
your first birthday balloons.
I got mad at your father
for letting them go.
Maybe he already knew something.
