Baby Experts Take a Chill Pill

This recent bit from Salon.com's Broadsheet gave me much delight. Turns out Ferber and Sears have both revised their newest editions in the name of moderation and flexibility and are finally admitting that one sleep method simply does not fit all—babies or mamas! Gosh, it's just nice to know that those dern "baby experts" are listening (or seeing sales decline and then listening; whatever it takes).

And don't miss the prizewinning quote: "In softening his own approach, Dr. Sears says he now thinks his earlier books placed too much emphasis on catering to the baby's needs, and did not address the parents' needs enough. 'It's also a parent-centered approach,' he says of his new book. 'What your baby needs is a happy, rested mother.'"
Thank you for joining us, Dr. Sears. We've been awaiting your arrival here in parental reality...
