Just Gotta Get That Halloween Candy Out of Your House?
posted by Amy
Together, my three kids created a family record: they collected 19 pounds of Halloween candy. I'm quickly growing weary of the tears being shed when I tell them that five fun-sized Snickers is enough for the day. The thought of having to do this every day for the next few months isn't...umm, appetizing. (Nor is the thought of how much weight I'll gain if that candy stays in our house. My kids' sugar habit is inherited from me.)
So somehow, I plan to talk them into donating some of their leftover candy to a good cause: a group which takes the goodies and packs them into Christmas stockings for needy children, Rebels With a Cause. Their site lists drop-off points in Northern California. If that's not where you are, local food banks and charities in your neck of the woods are possibilities you might want to check out if you just have to get that candy out of your house.
