Call Me Okaasan: Adventures in Multicultural Mothering is an anthology of essays edited by Suzanne Kamata. Kamata, whose previous works include the essay anthology Love You to Pieces: Creative Writers on Raising a Child with Special Needs and the novel Losing Kei, has collected stories about mothering in different kinds of multicultural settings. (Kamata herself is an American who married a Japanese man and lives and raises her children in Japan.) Like everything Kamata has written and edited, this collection reveals to its readers new ways of seeing family, that always perplexing and intriguing concept.
