No resolutions from me this year, unless you count resolving to do everything within my power to keep the kids healthy enough to go to school on Monday a resolution. I call it "necessary for my sanity and survival," but you can call it whatever you want, just as long as they go out that front door on Monday morning at 7:55 a.m. I will be SO happy to see them: at 2 p.m. on Monday, after I've had time to deconstruct the fort which has taken over our living room and to sit and breathe, alone and silent, for at least 2.5 minutes.
However, I DO want to say thanks to all who read mamazine, as well as to the amazing writers who allow us to publish their work here.
As 2009 begins, many around me are facing big challenges. It's when difficulties arise that I realize anew how much community matters. The networks of families bringing meals to a family facing illness, passing gently-used clothes down to the family dealing with a job loss, offering childcare to someone who needs an hour to herself--all these examples and many more inspire me. So do all of your words and emails and comments, because they help remind me that I'm part of this community, too. So thank you!
As a token of my gratitude, links to what's been inspiring me lately:
Sheri's project with Shari (the combination of Sheri's photos and Ed's coffee is truly inspired!)
These lyrics to a song I learned to sing in elementary school and which keeps running through my head lately.
