It seems like every news site I visit lately has an article in which someone is quoted as being disappointed in Michelle Obama's description of her coming role in the White House as "Mom-in-Chief." Not so this one by Geraldine Brooks, who sees the rich potential in this planned role: "Work-family balance? What is that, really, but a polite way of putting the feminist agenda of equal pay and decent child care back on the table after so many years of neglect?"
Yep. Even if just having a couple in the White House who until recently did their own dishes and arranged their own childcare while juggling full-time work wasn't enough cause for optimism that issues affecting caregivers might get some attention in the coming years, knowing Michelle's on the case should be.
