Some quick links before I go off to teach my classes (and try not to think too much about what it must be like for the people at Virginia Tech today):
An interview with Roy Richard Grinker, in which Grinker speaks with empathy and intelligence about the ways autism (or autisms, as he's starting to see the very wide variety of diagnoses that have a place on the autism spectrum) has been viewed in different times and places. I've written before about Grinker; this interview is a brief but good introduction to his work.
Billy Collins, Action Poet. Animated poetry, anyone?
Katie Allison Granju writes about her (and my own) favorite parenting strategy, benign neglect, in "The Overparenting Crisis." Okay, so I'd take the word "crisis" out of the title, but other than that, I tend to agree with a lot of what Granju writes here.
