For the Love of Charlie and Lola

I don't know what it is exactly that I love about Charlie and Lola (their Britishness, their cute names, their fresh illustrated selves and their pretty patterned worlds, the way Lola says "Maaah-rv," the reminiscence back to my own youth, in which I tortured my older brother with cheekiness, my longing for Clyde to have a littler sibling, or the teasing and annoyance turned love in every episode), but I adore them. In fact, I adore them way more than my son does and probably more than an adult person is meant to. And apparently so does Stephen Metcalf over at Slate.com.
Check out Stephen's recent article, "Beyond Bugs Bunny: The quest to find the perfect children's cartoon," and then tune in for some Charlie and Lola. Hey, the kids don't have to know you think sibling rivalry done cute, fun, and with an accent is worth sneaking.
